Due to the nature of non-public schools, the operation model, as well as the way the school operates, are very different from existing public schools, especially the size of the students and the number of classes. Large, for many levels of education from Primary, Secondary School to High School has many differences in psychophysiology by age. Along with that is the number of auxiliary utilities such as (services, dining, entertainment, physical activity …) also requires a lot more with the current model of public schools.

In terms of location, in order to ensure the ability to enroll and self-educate, these schools are often located in the inner metropolitan areas of the city. With restrictions on the height and the coefficient of land use in inner-city areas, an optimized inter-school design to suit every activity has always been a challenge for architects.

As such, the inter-school design plan in general should aim to satisfy simultaneously the criteria such as:

– Assurance of physiological psychology (architecture, spatial organization, form of decoration), but safe to use for students of all levels at different ages.

– Ensure adequate learning spaces, both physical and mental, in accordance with new advanced educational standards, including common and private facilities for use according to the study level.

– Ensuring the proprietary trading plan of private owners (having revenue from other service areas serving pupils and teachers).

– Comply with the criteria and criteria for school construction planning in inner-city areas, current school design standards and regulations (ensure land use coefficients, floors, standards fire safety, hygiene, school health …).

Reporter: With the Detech inter-school school design project in Dai Mo New Urban Area, what are the most difficult points you have to solve?

Luong Van Thanh Architects: Located in Dai Mo new urban area (Ha Dong district, Hanoi) on a land area of ​​7,198 m2, with a allowed height of 03 floors, expected Detech International School 1050 students are required, with 60 classes according to the standard of 35 students / class for primary and secondary schools. This is a lot of land that is not squarely shaped, which is less convenient for organizing class blocks in the direction of synchronous connectivity. The second difficulty that the design team has to deal with besides the number of inter-class classrooms is also the organization of tight and continuous space according to the grade levels, separating between the high-level learning levels but still having connectivity throughout the area to ensure the simultaneous use of common utility spaces such as mezzanine service space, library block and gym.

The only advantage that the construction site has is located opposite the sports complex in Ha Dong district, so it is possible to take advantage of a part of the sports complex’s facilities for activities. Physical diversity of students at all levels. however, this also met the requirements to organize class blocks in order to be able to seamlessly connect the school’s internal space to the outside open space of the sports complex.

 
Organize the construction site according to the scale of continuous and spatial connection

Architect Luong Van Thanh: On the basis of analyzing the status of the land both in terms of natural conditions and socio-economic factors, the design team has noticed the arrangement of classrooms in the southeastern strip, close to with roads will be the most optimal because making the most of the “dead” corner areas due to the deformed terrain.
