DESIGN CONCEPT OF THE PROJECT HEADQUARTERS OF THE VIETNAM UNION OF LITERATURE AND ARTS ASSOCIATIONS 51 TRAN HUNG DAO (HANOI) (07/04/2022)

Renovating and adding new functions to historical buildings is always a big challenge because of the balance between conservation and development.
With the project “a house of literature and art” – Headquarters of the Vietnam Union of Literary and Arts Associations at 51 Tran Hung Dao (Hanoi), the design method using contrasting language applied very successfully in developed countries around the world such as the Louvre Museum (Paris, France), the architects of Sunjin Vietnam had a breakthrough idea and at the same time preserved/restored the old villa. characteristics of Indochina architecture at the end of the 19th century, and at the same time creating an architectural block with a breath of contemporary architecture. Through the principles of visual layout, the architecture of the new working blocks with full functions using standard utilities (including the basement for parking) is arranged in a deeply recessed position, to keep the facade with the old villa block preserved and restored to its original state with full lines and decorative details imbued with historical culture.

The cubic design has many alignment – the area simulates the main block outline of the old villa building and especially the selected high-tech glass facade glass structure also acts as a backdrop, so the old villa gracefully reflects itself, as well as expands the space, bringing the overall campus to fully blend with the overall landscape space of the old block. The connection between the old and new building blocks is also connected through the organization of the garden space with ancient trees and special decorative trees.
